{"id":235,"date":"2015-02-03T23:17:34","date_gmt":"2015-02-04T05:17:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/justinwiegand.com\/blog\/?p=235"},"modified":"2015-02-26T12:44:50","modified_gmt":"2015-02-26T18:44:50","slug":"metabus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/justinwiegand.com\/blog\/?p=235","title":{"rendered":"metaBUS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve wanted to put a plug in for metaBUS for some time now (specifically since attending the related session at AOM 2014). \u00a0The time has come.<\/p>\n<p>What is metaBUS? \u00a0Quite simply, it&#8217;s an interface that will offer\u00a0access to\u00a0over 1,000,000\u00a0findings (correlational effect sizes) from top HR, Management, and Applied Psychology Journals from 1980 to present (at the time of this writing, 460,000 coefficients had been coded encompassing all findings from 1990-2013 from 12 journals). \u00a0The interface should allow for very simple meta-analysis&#8211;perhaps as simple as dragging and dropping variables. \u00a0To the degree publication bias and &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Publication_bias#File_drawer_effect\">file drawer<\/a>&#8221; problems are \u00a0addressed by the researcher, this incredible database stands to render a significant amount of the work associated with meta analyses\u00a0obsolete.<\/p>\n<p>While metaBUS is not planned for release until January 2016, there&#8217;s still an impressive release you can use right now, via Frank Bosco&#8217;s personal website. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.frankbosco.com\/data\/CorrelationalEffectSizeBenchmarks.html\">His Excel database<\/a> contains all effect sizes from 1980-2010 reported in Journal of Applied Psychology and Personnel Psychology. \u00a0The database contains ~150,000 correlations.<\/p>\n<p>metaBUS also involves a taxonomy of constructs&#8211;a first pass at exhaustive categorization and alleviation of construct proliferation concerns. \u00a0For academic purposes, a version of the present taxonomy is available by contacting Frank directly as per details in the link to his Excel database. \u00a0The taxonomy links to his database as well.<\/p>\n<p>Credit to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.metabus.org\/about-us\/\">metaBUS team<\/a>\u00a0for their\u00a0outstanding\u00a0work on a groundbreaking project!<\/p>\n<p>As per the metaBUS\u00a0website, &#8220;<em>You\u2019re either omnibus or off the bus.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve wanted to put a plug in for metaBUS for some time now (specifically since attending the related session at AOM 2014). \u00a0The time has come.
